SOS Events Prayer Letter - December, 2016 - GOOD NEWS

Please pray for the Mills Family

GOOD NEWS!!!

SOS Events Prayer Letter
December, 2016

Friends and Family:

MERRY CHRISTMAS and praise God that at this time of the year - when we celebrate our Christ Emmanuel - God with us - that we can rejoice in the 725 decisions for Christ during 2016, mainly through events where Alabama SOS' onsite partnership with Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama but also at offsite events throughout the state.  Since its start at Eastmont in 2013, Alabama SOS has seen over 2,000 decisions for Christ and many more who have been touched by the Holy Spirit through this local SOS ministry all for God's glory.  We thank Him for the many blessings He continues to pours out on our personal family, church family and this ministry.  We absolutely could not do it without you (and wouldn't want to)!

Please continue to pray for the Mills family as we go through a difficult season.  Your prayers are vital in helping us fight the attacks of the evil one as he seeks to do what he does best:  "steal, kill and destroy."   There is a spiritual battle being waged and, though sometimes we find ourselves walking a path we do not want to walk, we also find that God is walking that path with us...providing for us, giving us peace, strength, wisdom and spiritual discernment and his many promises for healing.

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and prayers.

The months of September, October, November & December...

Our weekly "2:07 Revival Prayer Group" is going strong. SOS Events Prayer Letter - September, 2016 - GOOD NEWS!

Pray for the Mills family

GOOD NEWS!!!

SOS Events Prayer Letter
September, 2016

Friends and Family:

Praise God for the 16 decisions for Christ during the month of September, for the over 40 newly locally trained SOS volunteers, and for the many blessings God continues to pours out on our family and this ministry.  We absolutely could not do it without you (and wouldn't want to)!

Your prayers are vital in helping us fight the attacks of the evil one as he seeks to do what he does best:  "steal, kill and destroy."   As the ministry rolls into what promises to be the busiest season of the year, will you please commit to join with our family in prayer, specifically for complete and total surrender to God's will and for His protection?  There is a spiritual battle being waged but make no mistake - we know Christ is the victor!

The month of August...

August 2 & 3: EBC 5th & 6th grade girls sleepover to end a wonderful summer of Bible study and growing in Christ.

August 4:  Received Faith Radio's publication and article on SOS' partnership with Emmanuel Baptist Church at Carnival for A Cause in Troy in April of 2015 where we saw 78 decisions for Christ.  See article here:  http://www.faithradio.org/clientimages/54791/33.3%20aug-oct%202016%20magazine%20web.pdf

August 10 & 11:  Mills girls back to school.  This is such a praise because financially it wouldn't have been possible for us to have supplied them with what they needed without your generous donations and dedicated prayer.

August 14:  SOS/Amazon Camp Hope mission report at Eastmont in the morning and fellowship at the Eastmont's Fish Fry in the evening.

August 19:  Foster Fest, Dothan, AL - attended by Carl Norton and our Colombia Baptist Association and FAITH riders team - 9 decisions for Christ!

August 21:  SOS received the blessing of the donation of over 20 bags of leftover school clothes from local consignment sale.  Provided the summer items to Amazon Camp Hope for their mission trips to Mexico and South America and the winter items to Colleen Walton for her brother and friend's mission trips to Russia.

August 22:  Fellowship and mentorship opportunity for Patty with dear friends placed in her life.  Are you serving and mentoring someone outside of your family?  Are you being served and mentored by someone outside of your family?  God created us to fellowship with other Christians as a way for "iron to sharpen iron."

August 24:  TWO SOS volunteer trainings of Bible study students at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church at 12 noon and 6pm.  Close to 40 trained!

August 27:  7 decisions for Christ at SOS event at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church's Back to School Talent Show and Cookout, 1-5pm.

August 28:  SOS volunteer training at Sixth Street Baptist Church, Alex City, AL, with Fred Slatter and FAITH riders, 12noon-3pm.  Enthusiastic and promising group!

Our weekly "2:07 Revival Prayer Group" is going strong. Join us in Spirit in prayer for revival each day at 2:07 (set a reminder on your phone!) and join us each Wednesday night in person in Room 207 from 6-7pm to pray 2 Chronicles 07:14 and share your heart and vision for reaching the lost as we prepare for upcoming SOS events.

GOOD NEWS!

SOS EVENTS PRAYER LETTER ~ AUGUST, 2016

Friends and Family:  Praise the Lord for allowing us to minister to the peoples of the Amazon this past month.  We saw over 25 decisions for Christ, handed out over 500 tracts, provided jungle pastors with SOS mini-boards and tracts and saw God's hand in every moment of our trip.  Our team will be giving a more comprehensive mission report at Eastmont Baptist Church on Sunday, August 14 during the 10:30am worship service so mark your calendars to attend!

Here is an entry from my journal after our first full day of ministry in Caballo Cocha, Peru:

Sunday, July 24

Up early to pray, read Bible and journal.  Breakfast of instant coffee with evaporated milk & sugar and water, bacon, crackers or bread and peanut butter and jelly.  Beautiful weather.

Took a smaller boat down the Amazon to our first village today.  Small wooden building on stilts is a church and all in the village came - 25 plus adults and 20 plus kids.  Selena - older woman in the village - grabbed my arm and wouldn't let go.  Kept talking to me in Spanish - Francisco said "she wants to understand you."  Jungle pastor spoke and sang then our group sang and I gave my testimony and call to the ministry and shared the SOS presentation.  Several made decisions for Christ!  Some will be baptized tomorrow and some will be married - Conzwella & Shee-Shee and Selena & ?. Lauren, Willow, Bella and Veronica (Juan's sister) taught the children.

After visit, we swam in the Amazon then back to Caballa Cocha for a lunch of meat, rice, fresh roasted carrots & potatoes.  Coke and water are their staple drinks!  Played UNO with some of the Santana family, rested some, met Santana's brother in ministry, Ronaldo Rengifo Lores who pastors the Iglesia Bautista La Roca Del Poder in Caballo Cocha and spoke with him about SOS, encouraged him, and gave him some miniboards and tracts.

Then got ready to go to Francisco Santana's church - Iglesia Biblica Bautista "Fe", Loreto N 205 Caballo Cocha.  Met "Miracle Man who was paralyzed but now walks - to church every day and evangelizes.  He was excited to get tracts and crosses to hand out.  Church had 20 plus adults and 20 plus children.  Our group sang and I gave my testimony and call to the mission and SOS presentation.  As Christians, I encouraged them to share about Jesus and gave them all tracts.

Back to Santana home for a dinner of scrambled eggs, bread and a peach with Coke and water.  Bella got sick a second time from taking anti-malaria medicine on an empty stomach.  Note: she needs to eat more!

Sights, sounds, thoughts...roosters crowing day and night! Horns blowing!  Church next door - singing/preaching. Lots of carnivorous birds - mainly around fish market.  Lots of stray dogs - but no dog fights.  Two kittens and their mama visited us during church service.  Transportation is walking, motorbikes and tuk-tuks on land and boats by water.  Grateful I packed snacks!  Loved Santana dog "E-scott" and their cat. So excited for this opportunity to share about Jesus in this place.

End of journal entry

As you can see from this one journal entry, our days in South America were absolutely packed with opportunities to share, encourage and point others to Jesus.  We are looking forward to partnering with Pastor Juan and Amazon Camp Hope on future mission trips and ask for your continued prayers for God's will to be made known and obeyed.

These tshirts will be available in the long hallway at Eastmont on 8/14 for a donation of $20.  We have a limited number of tshirts in small, medium and large; however, we are happy to take preorders that would be ready within 3 weeks.
(Note: "Voluntario" is in BLUE not white.)

Because of your support this past month, we have been able to serve and minister through SOS, having seen over 25 decisions for Christ as a result of the mission trip to South America, including many more who heard the Good News and with jungle pastors being equipped and empowered with SOS miniboards and tracts and continued committed administrative work behind the scenes to make it all happen!

The month of July...

July 4-8: 1J2 Back Yard Bible Club at Hyde Park where many were reached for Christ!

July 5, 6 & 8:  We bought our tickets to South America, got our yellow fever and typhoid shots and did some last minute gear shopping at a local thrift store...where a lady gave us $20, helped get us a discount on our items and said she'd pray for us!  We also practiced our Spanish songs for the trip to South America and the Hispanic Ministry at Eastmont prayed with us and over us for our trip.

July 18:  Nancy Morse invited Patty to speak at Eastmont's Women on Mission meeting at 9:30am.

July 19:  Nancy Butler invited Patty to speak at Eastmont's Young Women on Mission meeting at 6pm.

First village visited on Sunday, July 24.  Several made decisions for Christ and some were to be baptized the next day - and some were to be married!  Praise the Lord!

Second village visited on Monday, July 25, home to Juan Santana's future "Amazon Camp Hope" leadership ministry.  Five adults made decisions for Christ.  Pictured on porch of Big House from left to right small boy, Charlie (who cares for Amazon Camp Hope property), Alan, ? and Wilda.  Charlie, Alan, Wilda and two females (not pictured) Dina and LeLeeyon gave their lives  to Christ!  This village had no Christians before we came - it was ruled by the evil one - but now the Holy Spirit is there alive and well!

Third village we visited on Tuesday, July 26, where 6 plus people gave their lives to Christ!  Gustavo, Dios Alina & Glecami (married), Dabee and Maximo and some children.  Praise the Lord!

Fourth village we visited on Tuesday, July 26, where several gave their lives to Christ!

Fifth village we visited on Wednesday, July 27, where 4 people gave their lives to Christ!  This was a village on the outskirts of Caballo Cocha known for its drunkenness, drugs and criminal elements - police and ministers don't come here.  But Praise the Lord for His protection and provision as we shared the hope we have in Jesus.

SOS Events Prayer Letter - July, 2016 - GOOD NEWS!

GOOD NEWS!

SOS EVENTS PRAYER LETTER ~ JULY, 2016

Friends and Family:  God is so good and faithful - which is definitely Good News for us.

But that doesn't mean we should expect an earthly life absent of suffering, fear or problems.  God has been using this missionary journey, specifically our upcoming jungle trip, to remind me to keep my eyes on Him, seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto us...to trust that He will not only provide but that He is, in fact, our provision and that regardless of our circumstances that our mission of sharing the Good News with all has not - and will - not change.

Let me share some very specific ways God has revealed his good and faithful character to our family...

On Tuesday, June 28, my family met with Pastor Juan and his family about our upcoming mission trip to the Amazon.  He told us that he currently only had funds to take care of 1/2 of the cost of my ticket and no funds for tickets for Willow and Bella.  Tickets that must be bought by Sunday, July 3.  Which meant that within 6 days we needed $3,750 ($1,250 per person x three people).  He said "we must pray"...so we joined hands and hearts and we prayed.  And we continued praying and praising God for providing.  We claimed that if it was His Will, it was His bill and we - in faith - told God we weren't sure how or when He would do it but we were excited to see how He was going to show up and show out.

On Thursday evening, June 30, we had a knock at the door and a generous donor gave us a check for...$3,000!!!  We told Pastor Juan and other members of the team and they praised God along with us.  We trust God to provide for the remainder and know that He will.

This mission and its team members need your continued prayers and partnership for our trip July 22-30. Below are just a few ways you can partner with us in our mission to Share the Good News...

- Purchase tshirts.  We are asking $20 a shirt but would welcome any additional donation.  We have a limited first order which will be available the week of June 20; however, we are happy to take preorders that would be ready within 3 weeks.  Let us know how many and what size and make your checks payable to Patty Mills.
(Note: "Voluntario" will be in BLUE not white.)

- Purchase jewelry.  Hand made by the team members of the mission out of soda pop tops and tshirt material.  Gorgeous, unique, hand made and a reminder of how people around the world create beautiful things out of garbage and how God takes broken things and makes them beautiful and uses them to His glory.  We have a limited number and are asking $50 for the set of necklace and bracelet but would welcome any additional donations and any preorders.

- Direct love offering monetary donation.  Make checks payable to Patty Mills and mail to 712 Mary Ann Drive, Montgomery, AL, 36109 or call me and I'll be happy to provide alternative arrangements (334.391.2380).  Samuel Norwood and Lauren House also have set up a "Go Fund Me" account online and Pastor Juan and Grace accept donations through their nonprofit "Amazon Camp Hope."  Contact me with questions or for more information.

- Donation of the following items.  Note:  We will be visiting 5-6 villages, each having as many as 100 natives:
Basic medicine:  Antibiotic ointment; Acetaminophen; Ibuprofen;
Basic care items:  Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, etc.
Bags of hard candy
Soccer balls (6-10 of good quality, deflated with hand pump inflator included if possible)
Boxes of Spanish Bibles and devotionals
Clothes and shoes (Men/Women/Children/Babies - Small to Medium, Lightweight
Baseball caps

Because of your support this past month, we have been able to serve and minister through SOS, having seen 2 decisions for Christ locally in June, including many more who heard the Good News and new training/launch off of SOS' new house to house follow up and continued committed administrative work behind the scenes to make it all happen!

The month of June...

June 5:  Patty shared her testimony with the Jerry Short Sunday School class and about the upcoming mission trip to South America.  God used this class to bless our family with prayer warriors and with generous donations!

June 6-10: 1J2 Back Yard Bible Club at Hyde Park where many were reached for Christ!

June 11:  Patty shared her testimony and about the upcoming mission trip to South America with the Beautiful Warriors group at their annual pool party.

June 22:  Longest Wednesday Ever at Eastmont Baptist Church.  Local outreach to share about Jesus and His love.  Also, SOS follow up house to house meeting.

June 23:  A salvation putting up yard sale signs?  Yes!  Praise the Lord!!

June 24 & 25:  A salvation and mission opportunity at a yard sale?  Yes!  Praising God for the money raised for the mission trip to South American but more for being able to share about Jesus.

June 29:  Team of SOS volunteers and leaders met and then went house to house for follow up with new and newly assured believers.  Thank you Trish Sides, Andrew Buxbaum, Jessica Fleming and Carl Norton.

SOS Events Prayer Letter - June, 2016 - GOOD NEWS!

BOBBY, PATTY, WILLOW & BELLA
GOOD NEWS!!

SOS EVENTS PRAYER LETTER ~ JUNE, 2016

Friends and Family:  We are so happy to share some Buenas noticias (Good News) with you today!

As you likely know, the Mills' girls are headed to the Amazon for the purpose of sharing the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with mostly unreached native peoples in the Colombia, Peru and Brazil regions.  This is definitely a God-sized trip in every aspect but let me share with you how God has been making His presence and guidance clear to us about going on the trip...

On Saturday, May 7, at Frazer United Methodist's Annual Missions Yard Sale, Patty and the SOS team lead 20 people in making decisions for Christ. A young lady named Maria was one of those who made a decision and although Maria spoke only Spanish the Holy Spirit empowered and equipped Patty with courage to use the SOS Spanish board and ABC materials and she was able to overcome the language barrier in leading Maria to accept Christ as her Lord & Savior! Encouraged by Maria's decision, Patty continued to reach out to other Hispanics at the yard sale with the Good News and was able to help two Portequese-speaking people to rededicate their lives to Christ and handed many Spanish tracts out to others as well.

As you will see in reading the rest of our newsletter, God is definitely preparing the way for us...

- Prayer warriors that are lifting us up...
- The Holy Spirit giving us confidence and practice in overcoming language barriers in sharing (along with a really good foreign language app and translation app!)...
- Donations that have helped to cover the cost of our passports and some travel gear...
- Commitments from several to pray about donating towards the $750 cost of our international vaccines...
And though we still have so much that needs to be purchased and done between now and July 23, we know that it is God's will which makes it God's bill!

Many have said, "Here's a little towards your mission trip...I know it's not much." Can I just say how much I love how God takes our "not much" and blesses it...multiplies it...and uses it to care for the poor and poor in spirit...and how the poor whom we are honored to bless turn around and bless us even more than we did them! This is our prayer, too, that God would take our willing spirits and use us as He sees fit in sharing about Him and His Son through the Holy Spirit.

Because of your support this past month, we have been able to serve and minister through SOS, having seen 23 decisions for Christ locally in May, including new volunteers trained, new opportunities revealed and continued committed administrative work behind the scenes to make it all happen!

The month of May...

May 7: Patty joined other SOS volunteers in leading 20 people in decisions for Christ at Frazer United Methodist's Annual Yard Sale for missions. As mentioned above, we are greatly encouraged to see how God is helping to equip and empower Alabama SOS in the area of ministering within our Hispanic community.

May 8: Patty joined other SOS team members in training an Eastmont Hispanic Ministry leader on the SOS method. Afterwards, Patty and the girls joined the Hispanic Ministry for worship and then the whole family joined this wonderful group for their Mother's Day event following worship. It was an amazing time of fellowship!

May 13: Bobby and Patty joined Billy Irvin of Faith Radio and other Faith Radio personnel and guests at an event where they shared their heart and about their calling for the ministry of SOS.

May 14: Due to the passing of Tom Curtis, founder of SOS, Alabama SOS did not set up a booth at Eastmont's car show; however, leader Carl Norton used SOS's portable "mini board" as a personal witnessing tool and was able to lead 3 people to Christ by just walking around at the car show. Praise the Lord!

May 22: Patty joined Billy Irvin of Faith Radio at First Baptist Church in Montgomery to present the Talladega Mission Report at the evening service. Also in attendance were SOS leaders and team members Bobby Mills, Dale and Dorothy Brown (and Dorothy's mom), Carl Norton, Tabitha Ragsdale, Bob Howard and others who were recognized for their service within ministry.

May 26-28: Willow, along with several other Eastmont youth, served and ministered at several different inner city ministry sites in and around Anniston, Alabama. She and the others worked joyfully and tirelessly as the hands of feet of Jesus to those who needed it the most and she shared and encouraged others to do the same.

May 29: Eastmont's Hispanic Pastor, Juan Santana, invited Patty to share her testimonio y llamado al ministerio (testimony and call to ministry) with the Hispanic Ministry during their Sunday morning worship time.

On the horizon for SOS...

Afternoon, sweet family and friends...we just couldn't wait to share with you some exciting news!!!
The SOS Mills girls (myself and our two girls) will be headed to South America to share Jesus with the native peoples along the Amazon for a week the end of July! If you would like more details, please feel free to email me so I can share.
If all this missionary stuff comes as a shock to you it probably means you haven't received our family's Missionary Letter that was sent out in mid-April.  If you would like a copy of that, please email me and I'll be happy to provide it to you.

As both local and now short term foreign missionaries, we covet your continued prayers and support.  We ask that you specifically pray about the following list of needs on our immediate horizon that we fully trust God to provide for in order to make this trip happen....where God guides, He provides.

Passports:  Patty-$135, Willow-$105, Bella-$105 = $345
Vaccines:    Patty, Willow and Bella $250 each     = $750
[Yellow Fever, Typhoid & Malaria pills]
Travel related medicine/gear:  = $200
We are so blessed to have you in our lives to share in our journey of faith and pray blessings on your, your families and your ministries.

 GOOD NEWS!!

SOS EVENTS PRAYER LETTER ~ MAY, 2016

Friends and Family:  We are so happy to share some Good News with you today!  As you know, our family sent out our missionary support letter in mid April.  We had prayed fervently over this next step in our faith journey and specifically that those who received it would be moved to action for the kingdom.  In accordance with His Word in Ephesians 3:20, He did ABUNDANTLY more than we asked or imagined and we can't thank you enough for allowing Him to use you to partner with us through your continued prayers and support.

Because of your support this past month, we have been able to serve and minister through SOS, having seen 140 decisions for Christ across the state of Alabama in April, including 2 baptisms, new volunteers trained, new opportunities revealed and continued committed administrative work behind the scenes to make it all happen!

The month of April...

A weekly "2:07 Revival Prayer Group" started.  Join us in Spirit in prayer for revival each day at 2:07 (set a reminder on your phone!) and join us each Wednesday night in person in Room 207 from 6-7pm to pray 2 Chronicles 07:14 and share your heart and for reaching the lost as we prepare for upcoming SOS events.

April 7:          Patty joined other SOS volunteers in leading 27 people in decisions for Christ at
                       Eastmont's Spring Missions Yard Sale.
April 10:        Patty joined other SOS leaders to show appreciation for our volunteers with a lunch.
April 14:        Patty joined Franklin Graham's Prayer Rally at the capitol for Decision America.
April 21-24:   Patty, Willow and Bella joined other SOS leaders at the Carnival for a Cause in Troy,
AL where they led 78 people in decisions for Christ.  Willow lead 4 people to Christ
with only the Holy Spirit's assistance!
April 28-May 1:  Patty joined other SOS volunteers in leading 34 people in decisions for Christ at
the spring NASCAR races in Talladega, AL, with God providing the opportunity                                 for Patty to baptize two people.  And the owners of the CamoPool have offered to
bless the ministry with a baptismal pool! Praise the Lord!
